IT Governance System in University of Southeast-Free-Samples

Question: Discuss about the IT Governance System in University of Southeast. Answer: IT Governance System in University of Southeast: There are two governing bodies for providing the IT facilities in the University of Southeast. One is Information Technologies and Resources (ITR) another is Technical support Department(TSD) which is owned by the College of Business Administrator. ITR is providing the services to the students by allowing the students to view , download the lectures, happening in the class. The students can access the lecture notes and can download lectures through the internet from the selected parts of the university such as university dorm (Garca-Pealvo and Llorens-Largo 2015). This facility will enable to provide the lectures to all the 1,000 students, in case there is not enough place to accommodate all those students in the physical classroom. In order to provide this facility to the students the ITR is charging an amount of money from the students. ITR is responsible for providing the services regarding the technologies and telecommunications across the campus. ITR has provided this kind of services to many universities and colleges. Recently the students and the faculties are not pleased with the service of ITR as they are not providing the service in a right way and there are some technical problems like the bandwidth problem . In case of troubleshooting the ITR is recommending the persons who can not fix the problem. Advantages and disadvantages of centralized IT governance system: The centralized IT governance system will help to improve the quality of service along with the improvement of the security system. ITR will have the greater control over the system and the maintenance. The faculty members will not be benefited from this system. The confidential mails of the faculties regarding the academics will not stay secure and confidential in this system (Khouja et al. 2018). The faculty members wants their mail to be forwarded directly from the TSD server in the university to their personal mail account. The centralized system will not permit this facility. Decision rights for the University of Southeast: According to the ITR authority the centralized server for the email is more secure and reliable way to handle the problems, but faculties are not supporting the idea of centralization. ITR is asked to prioritize between the ease the use of the system and the security of the email. However, in this context , ITR could not give satisfying answers. In this situation it would be recommendable that centralization of the email should be done only for the students. The emails of faculty members should run in a different severs governed by the university authority References Garca-Pealvo, F.J. and Llorens-Largo, F., 2015, October.
